The corporate “health footprint” and its integration into the ESG Agenda.
At Forética we lead the Health and Sustainability Action Group, made up of 12 large companies — headed by Chiesi, Grupo ASISA, Microsoft and Quirónsalud — and pioneer in working on the common elements across health and sustainability in the business context. We have proved to be one of the leading reference points in the business field for our pivotal role in accomplishing the Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3 — Health and Well-being) in Spain through the contribution of the private sector, a commitment of the utmost relevance when facing the crisis of the COVID-19.
Since 2019, our Action Group has collaborated with companies in the strategic integration of health and wellbeing and reinforced its commitment to social aspects within the ESG approach — environmental, social and governance. In past editions, we have addressed the health and sustainability business case; and the link between climate change and the role of companies in the face of this reality.
We will focus in the third edition of the Group (2021–2022) on addressing the companies ‘health footprint’ from two perspectives: on one hand, the impact on employees’ health (scope 1), with a focus on mental health. This is a highly topical issue given the impact of COVID-19 and the growing demand from workers to companies, positioning as a strategic element. On the other hand, by analysing how companies contribute to the health of clients and consumers (scope 2) through the healthy products and services supply. Now more than ever, working on the ‘health footprint’ of organisations is an opportunity to continue contributing to a holistic view of health from the angle of corporate sustainability.
Collaboration is one of our main pillars, both with national and international organisations. Our partnership with the Planetary Health Alliance is a further step towards achieving a greater impact and enriching the corporate social sustainability agenda.
